  • Terrazzo Art Fidelity will attend the Hifi and Homecinema Show 2005 in Brussels. The show takes place on 1 and 2 October at the Sheraton Hotel in Brussels. More info on: www.brussels-hifi-show.be
    TAF will demonstrate its latest models at the show like the Excalibur, the Royal Excalibur, the Extrama Vaganza mk II and maybe two more new products. TAF will also show the 700 Watt, extremely adjustable, active subwoofer, the Rock II.

  • In the meantime the results of a multi-test of 20 small loudspeakers, among which the Extrema Vaganza II, have been published in Vifi 2 and 3. According to Bart Sloothaak and René Schaak, the Extrama Vaganza (1st) was a real surprise (together with the Castle Richmond (2nd) and Elac (3rd). The test can be read in the review section of the Extrema Vaganza.
  • The magazines Luister and Jazz as well as Hifi.nl have been testing the Excalibur. As soon as the results are published, we will publish them on our site.

  • New pricelist online

Announcements

  • The Cadans 28 II and the Merlin I are no longer in production due to the end of production of the magnetic driver unit in both models. They can only be obtained if available through trade in. They are sold second-hand including guarantee.
  • The Merlin I will be reformed in an improved Merlin II. This new concept of the same size will become an D'Appolito design which means that one or two high-frequency units will be place between two identical mid-frequency units and woofers. The new Merlin II will of course feature the revolutionary Extra Bass Support (EBS). Read all about EBS under the description of e.g. the Royal Excalibur.

De ultiem heldere (semi) gebalanceerde interlink. The next generation.

Interlinks zijn (afgeschermde) verbindingskabels tussen verschillende audio apparaten, zoals CD-spelers, voor-/eind-/geïntegreerde versterkers. In principe zijn deze kabels dus niets anders dan uitwendige (afgeschermde) printbanen tussen de verschillende apparaten.
De nieuwe generatie TAF kabels zijn dan ook, als we het hierboven beschreven goed beschouwen, niets bijzonders. Letterlijk niet omdat TAF het principe huldigt dat er letterlijk niets mag gebeuren tussen de verschillende audio-apparaten. Daarom zijn de fysische grootheden van deze interlinks en stekkers zo dat ze zeer sterk overeen komen met de printbanen van topklasse audiocomponenten. Met dit verschil dat ze zeer goed zijn afgescherm.
Uiteraard is deze generatie kabels, net als andere TAF generaties, semi gebalanceerd hetgeen wil zeggen dat er binnen een zeer gedegen afscherming twee zwaar verzilverde, uit 19 strands bestaande, draden zitten. De eveneens verzilverde mantel is dan aan de 'bronzijde' bij de 0 (nul), ook wel eens ten onrechte de min (-) genoemd, aangekoppeld en 'zweeft' aan de ontvang zijde.

Omdat elke fabrikant van top audioapparatuur weet dat ophoping van geleidende materialen, zoals te brede printbanen, de muzikaliteit van het apparaat vermindert, en TAF interlinks als externe printbanen beschouwt, zal het duidelijk zijn dat bij deze generatie ook in de aansluitdelen (de stekkertjes) hoge eisen gesteld zijn aan de kwaliteit en de hoeveelheid materiaal dat als geleider dienst doet. Om deze reden zijn (ogenschijnlijk) kleine, zeer hoogwaardige cinch connectoren verwerkt. Wederom geldt hier: less is better (maar dan wel zeer goed materiaal).

Evenals dat bij printbanen geldt, zo geldt dat ook voor interlinks: less is better, ofwel hoe korter hoe beter. Daarom heeft TAF drie standaard lengtes, te weten 30, 60 en 90 cm. Er kan (tegen meerprijs) een andere lengte geleverd worden (tot ca. 35 m of meer!).

Inmiddels hebben enkele bekendere muziekliefhebbers deze kabels (of kabeltjes) eens lekker aan de tand gevoeld. Zo snel we wat reacties op papier hebben, zullen we dit aan deze rubriek toevoegen.

Introduction Merlin

On May 14 and 15 1999 the Merlin was introduced to the Dutch audio press. It is now possible to order in more than one hundred (terrazzo) variations. The delivery time is approximately 8 weeks but after that the new owner can boast about owning the world's best loudspeaker specifically designed for vacuum tube amplifiers. This was our aim and that's why it took 17 months from the drawing board to the end product. For more information about the Merlin please visit the product page.

VAD show

This year Terrazzo Art Fidelity (TAF) will be present on the VAD Show in Veldhoven for the first time (so not unlike the past few years when we were "near" the VAD Show). The exact room number isn't known yet but the dates are: October 23, 24 and 25. Location: Hotel and business centre Koningshof.

Dealers

To improve the distribution of our products, TAF is going to cooperate with some top high-end dealers. One of those dealers we have approached is the Opera in Oisterwijk. Of course we're open to suggestions.

The Firato 98 fair is over. Now we are preparing us for the next show. We will be present at the VAD show held in Veldhoven (Holland). The VAD show is being held at October 24 and 25 and is open from 12:00 - 18:00 each day.

Welcome to our first Internet newsletter!
At present we're one step away of introducing our full website. We intend to present it fully operational before the Firato consumer electronics fair. Meet us at Firato 98, place H 1112. The Firato consumer electronics fair will be held from October 1st till October 7 in Amsterdam RAI. Check out the Firato website for more details. Beside this fair TAF wil also be present near the VAD show. As we favour the direct sale principle, we will not be a contributor of the actual show but will be demonstrating our loudspeakers in the nearby vicinity.

The first new loudspeaker we are working on will be the the Rectangle 26 (R26): the first choice for tube lovers. This system will be finished at the beginning of 1999. It is 166 cm high, approx 35 cm deep and the front is 17 cm wide. On one side the speaker widens towards the back so that its top view is like a quadrangle with one right angle.

The midrange and high frequency is realized by the same planar magnetic driver duo as in the Cadans 28˛.The low frequency is taken care of by four serial/parallel 17 cm units which are placed in a double D'Appolito configuration. The result of this, determined through a careful computer simulation, is: -3dB: 25 Hz. Sensitivity 92 dB/w/m!

This groundbreaking, reference loudspeaker (price approx Fl. 19.000 ($9900)/pair) is going to be followed by smaller (and therefore cheaper) "tube dedicated loudspeakers". These speakers are of course also very suitable for transistor and mosfet amplifiers.

* All new TAF models now feature the superior Mundorf crossover components.

* The Cadans 28 is now upgraded into the second edition (Cadans 28˛). This version is standard built with an internal crossover. The extremely heavy external crossover, build in a terrazzo casing, is still available at an additional cost.

* After 7 years, the Cadans 3 has been modified. Now the legendary Esotec tweeter from Dynaudio is put into action and the crossover is hardwired using the heavy Mundorf components. Besides this C3˛, we are developing a compound edition. In this edition the low/midrange section will be realized by two 17 cm units placed behind oneanother (=compound) as in the C28˛ and R15. The -3 dB of this C3˛ compound is about 35 Hz !!
